Mrs. Toni Freeman, Montessori Assistant

My name is Toni Freeman, I am the assistant in the Lower Elementary Montessori classroom.  This is my 4th year at Ford Elementary and I really enjoy being in the Montessori class.

I have been married to Mike Freeman for 44 years, not a bad run for a blind date I married 2 months after our first date.  We have 2 children, a son, Ashley, in Seattle Washington and a daughter, Brandy, who works at Ford.  We have 4 very special grandchildren.

Now in our “golden” years we are kept very busy with our “new” generation of children…5 furry babies:  Buddy, Peanut, Maci, Bitty Butt, and Mikey.

Mike and I enjoy rummaging through flea markets for old brass and copper pots, pans, and lamps to refurbish.

Mrs. Karen Madden, 4K Assistant

Hi. My name is Karen Madden. This is my first year as a 4K Assistant Teacher at Ford Elementary working with Mrs. Sumerel. I am a Laurens native and a Winthrop College graduate. I have a degree in Mass Communications and Graphic Design, but I have always had a passion for working with young children. Besides working in the Marketing and Advertising field, I have served as a Children's Minister at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, substituted in District 55 schools, taught preschool at First Baptist Church and been a Social Studies Montessori Assistant Teacher at Laurens Middle School. I am married and have two children who have home-schooled and attended Laurens public schools. I love both forms of education and they have taught me a great deal about working with children of all ages to inspire and motivate them to learn to the best of their ability. I am thrilled to be working in 4K at Ford.
